Scholarships offered by PrEP in Black America; deadline Feb. 16

Looking to attend NMACs 2024 Biomedical Prevention Summit? Scholarships are being offered by PrEP in Black America; application deadline is Friday, Feb. 16 at 11p. ET.

Scholarships are being offered to cover summit registration as well as for travel. Everyone is encouraged to apply, said PIBA member Danielle Campbell.

“It’s super important for people to open the application and apply,” she said in an email to POSITIVELY AWARE. “We will consider level of need as indicated in the application.”

The scholarship will also include attendance to a pre-conference PIBA meeting.

Organized by NMAC, the Biomedical Prevention Summit runs April 19–20 in Seattle, Washington. This year’s meeting will center on research, science and data and the need to present science in a way that can be easily understood by community.

Comprised of Black advocates, researchers, policymakers and people living with and affected by HIV from communities disproportionately affected by HIV, PIBA seeks to energize Black public health workers to lead the HIV prevention response and to educate Black people in the science and effectiveness of PrEP. The group actively supports a federally-funded national PrEP program.
