Focusing on HIV/AIDS among women and girls in the community, the Volusia/Flagler Minority AIDS Network will hold its "Sistas Organizing to Survive" conference on Feb. 27. The event will feature an expert panel discussion and a speech by Leisha McKinley-Beach of the Florida Department of Health's Bureau of HIV/AIDS. Specific sessions will address how to talk with your kids about sex and negotiating risky situations. Lunch will be provided to the first 100 people who register. The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Bethune-Cookman University's L. Gale Lemerand School of Nursing, 739 International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach.
