Oliver Francis Luettgenau departed this earthly life, in his home, in Wasola, Missouri, at the age of 44. Born November 22, 1964 in Redondo Beach, California to Georg and Ursula (Backhaus) Luettgenau, both predeceased, he is survived by his ex-wife Rebekka Armstrong of Sherman Oaks California and his sister, Michaela Webb her husband Ron Webb and their children Sara, Erik, Kati, David, and Meagan of Ava, Missouri. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, husband and friend.
Oliver and Rebekka bought a home in the Ozarks to be closer to and help his sister care for their mother with Alzheimers. He was an artist a musician and a punk rocker, playing in bands since he was 15 years of age. He went on to tour The Ozzfest with his band “Flashpoint” performing for audiences of over 30,000. He wrote passionately and sang on important matters such as human rights, peace and justice. As well as marched in many protests! One of his greatest loves were his animals. He donated to many animal charities and rescued and found homes for numerous cats and dogs. All of his pets were rescued or showed up on his doorstep and were not turned out. As an HIV/AIDS activist he was and is an inspiration to countless people. He traveled the world to lend a voice to this destructive disease, dispelling misconceptions and offering insight. Oliver was a youth counselor for many years specializing in drug and alcohol treatment. He was a personal trainer and body builder, taking clients to the top in competitions around the country. Politics was especially important to Oliver and this along with World Peace came up in almost all conversations. Oliver was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He built his own custom bikes and rode them all over Southern California, France and the Midwest. There will never be anyone quite like you Oliver with such a real, complicated and yet beautiful passion for life. You have touched many and will be greatly missed. You were larger than life. |

Wow. Loved that. I'm sorry I never met the man (maybe one day I'll meet Rebekka, whom I saw in passing at an event in Chicago a while back). Wish I could see some photos of the bikes, the band, and the pets!
Thanks, Susan, Enid |
