i'm really interested in what women thought/think of her. please share! UGH! But, then, I suspect you didn't expect many replies full of praise and adoration! I will say one thing for her, though - she provided a perfect reflection in our faces of what we had allowed our political system to become. Not only have we suffered through 8 years of uncompassionate philsophical conservatism and fiscal irresponsibility from W (not to mention his refusal to pronounce "nuclear" correctly!), but then we have her - a woman who claims to be an environmentalist while shooting wildlife from a helicopter (yeah, that's fair!); an advocate of "abstinence only" sex ed whose 17-year-old daughter obviously did NOT get the message; a potential Vice President who claims she has diplomatic experience because she can see Russia from her porch; a disrespectful harpy who sneers at community organizers in one breath while claiming her "experience" as a mayor of a tiny Alaskan town is more weighty than being a US senator; a mother who totes her Downs Syndrome child around like a doll into circumstances that would be frightening for many adults, let alone a baby who can't understand what all the noise and flashing lights are about or why his sister is smearing her spit on his head; and, finally, perhaps my pet peeve, being the language Nazi I am, not only can she NOT answer questions that anyone who has any awareness of the news can answer, but she, too, says "NUCULAR!" Come ON, people! The ones who keep her 15 minutes of fame from fading like the flash in the pan they were are looking for some sort of twisted proof that our leaders are "just plain folk," like us, people we'd like to have a beer with. Well, in the words of Lea Deloria (sp? - sorry, Lea!), I want a president who is actually SMARTER than me! I want leaders who have figured out more than I have. And I don't drink beer! The good news is I got the president I wanted, he's waaaay smarter than me, and the guy he picked as VP is no slouch either! It is my fervent hope that Sarah will shake her perky ass back to the snow and never be heard from again - after all, she'll soon have a daughter who's trapped in a marriage to a kid whose biggest accompl;ishment may be the mobility of his sperm! Surely she'll have to take on some grandmotherly duties! -------------------- Sue Saltmarsh

An anti-woman woman candidate is nothing to be proud of.

Sarah Palin may have been a strong woman in her own right as she certainly could hold her own for what she believed in but she surely didn’t represent what women need and are looking for in today’s lifestyles and alternative living. She was no help to any women rights, was WAY too conservative for 2009 and our future. She also portrayed poor knowledge in many things going on around her and even specifically to her own field so I am not sure where that should place her in our political world and who we trust to lead us even if just as governor (good things she isn’t governor here!

Here is some Palin news for the day. May be this will spark more talk/opinion’s on this forum. She is pointing fingers and what seems like a little salt on her shoulders (guess she ain’t heard Jay- Z song either..lol dust your shoulders off!!) and how the media did her in. Ha I believe she is a submissive at home so while she tries to be super woman to the public (Not working so much for her but she tries) while tucking her hidden penis under her skirt and turning her back on women and our rights, she really submits when the doors are close.. well, I mean it’s a thought!!! In any event… It would be interesting to find the positive in her & discuss why or what?!?!?!? I guess saving the environment is a good start, right? Any other thoughts we can debate? I mean I know she is so yesterday but the broad or “Bimbo” (as Bill Maher calls her) isn’t leaving lime light just yet because election is over and she lost. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28573074/?GT1=43001 Video link. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/28575700#28575700 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/28575700#28567586 |

Okay… I sat & pondered my thoughts on Sarah Palin as well as reading the comment from K. Green. Oh the fun of forums and letting the world in to your thoughts…. Does Palin put a HUGE set back on women’s right? I don’t think so! But I am merely one among many. Many people saw what you saw, she was used as a pawn, for sure! I will NOT take away from the fact that she is very intelligent in her own right. She didn’t excel to where she is because she was a pageant contestant or just a wonderful hockey mom. She definitely has brains which happen to come with beauty. She was placed in a position unfairly, unprepared and muzzled on top of it all. On top of that she just wasn’t ready for such a HUGE job. So did she come off a bit STUPID? Yes, but I know certainly that would happen to any of us if we are doing one job & yanked into the highest position over night, never really mentally preparing or having the ambition & FORSIGHT for that particular position.. TRUST we all will stumble. I don’t think she ever really dreamt of being VP but now that the seed is planted may be she will focus now. Now, what creates the dislike for her is that she is against so much of what women’s current fight & struggle is about & liberal people too. Nothing to do with her intelligence or that she doesn’t know a single name to which paper she gets her info from, not at all (tho it stood out). Her mere beliefs & morals set HER back not women in general. Palin is merely but one above many women & those who will come, can & will set the bar. Hilary is still one of them & soon will follow many & Palin will just be known as the test runner. In life someone must be the lab rat. It’s a fact, tho it suck and when we look back it can be sad & the fact that we pass such harsh judgement is also sad (I must check my self as well for that) but our generations got here because of test runs & worse the fact that someone gets used in the process. So yeah it’s kinda sad for poor Palin but she figured it out too & now has a life lesson under her skirt. Hopefully, I’m not rambling as I tend to do that too. Okay, maybe I should get back to work now since that’s what they pay me to do & not blog on forums but I can’t help it. TaTa.... Till I'm tempted again. |

Unfortunately, if a person has any power at all - such as the ear of politicians or a voice in the media - their anti-women stance will hurt other women. Otherwise, just like Keith Green, I love you too!!! (Who the hell is Jay Z.? Some rapper, right? Wouldn't know him if I stepped over - oh, wait. That was a different forum, where I let on about how behind the times I am. Never mind!)

Enid Here is a quote I ran into... reminded me of this "Those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth. And let me remind you, they are the very ones who always create the most hellish tyrannies. Absolute power does corrupt, and those who seek it must be suspect and must be opposed. I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people. I hope our wisdom will grow with our power, and teach us, that the less we use our power the greater it will be" I think we all except that you don't know most of what is going on with the curent music, we still love you for your uniqueness. |
