Hmmm...here are some of MY favorites!
READ (I happen to know you have a wonderful copy of "Atlas Shrugged" that you're probably putting off until you have your PhD, but make some hot chocolate and crack it open!
Cook - make chocolate chip cookies or spaghetti sauce or some spicy thing I would never be in the same room with! Just something to make your house smell fantastic! Then invite someone over to eat it!
Watch: Season 1 of The West Wing (it'll make you even MORE hungry for the 20th!)
Sylvester Stallone's (NOT Michael Caine's) "Get Carter" (trust me, this ain't no Rambo and you know I'm serious coz I used a double negative with "ain't" in it!)
"The Usual Suspects" (...and, POOF!, he was gone!)
Talk to someone you haven't talked to for a looong time - voice-to-voice, no email!
Take a nap!

And of course, there's always "make an angel in the snow!" But whatever it is, ENJOY it!

thanks, EM! i took ur advice and did 3 of these.

1) i started reading sistah souljah's new novel, Midnight. i know, i know...it's not Atlas Shrugged. i'm holding off on that until the summer when i can actually finish it without being forced to put it down for an extended period of time (i.e., THE SPRING SEMESTER WHICH BEGINS MONDAY!)
2) i made some really good spaghetti!!! i got a new dicer for christmas, so it had fresh green peppers and onions in it. it was FAN-TAS-TIC!
3) i took SEVERAL naps!!! tongue.gif

chocolate chip cookies

brave the cold and walk out to picnic point, or try the arboretum

try cross country skiing! - golf courses like Odana are tracked and you can rent skis and take lessons

visit the Lakefront Cafe and enjoy a hot beverage while watching snow fall on a frozen lake

explore any one of the amazing cafes in the willy/atwood neighborhoods

cozy up with a good book

heyyy! yay madtown! lots of fun things to do in the snow!
you live in a fantastic neighborhood - i am less familiar with the coffee shops there, but be sure to grab food at the weary traveler sometime.
and for places closer to campus, bariques and indie coffee are both pretty sweet.

Don't listen to Earth Mother! The Michael Caine version of Get Carter is the far superior version! I can prove it; I have charts!

My big snowy day indoor activities are books and video games. And trying to keep the dog entertained, as she gets cabin fever very easily.
